This month's meeting will be on Wednesday 18th May, 7-9pm in our usual venue, the Jubilee Hall, Millennium Centre, West Green Rd, next to St John Vianney RC Church.
This month, we're going to be discussing and voting on resolutions. There are two for our consideration, and it might be a good idea to read up on them ahead of time.
The first resolution is:
Avoid food waste, address food poverty
'The WI calls on all supermarkets to sign up to a voluntary agreement to avoid food waste, thereby passing surplus food on to charities thus helping to address the issue of increasing food poverty in the UK.'
More information and briefing notes are available here: https://www.thewi.org.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0005/168701/Avoid-food-waste,-address-food-poverty.pdf
The second is:
Appropriate care in hospitals for people with dementia
'We call upon HM Government and the NHS to provide facilities to enable carers to stay with people with Alzheimer's disease and dementia that have been admitted into hospital.'
More information and briefing notes are available here:
Following our discussion, we'll be voting on EACH resolution, and giving our votes to Sue to take to the National Annual Meeting in June.
We know that discussing resolutions isn't everyone's idea of a good time, so WE'RE HAVING PIZZA AND PROSECCO. You're welcome.
As always, there'll be cake - this month baked by Claudia.
Guests are welcome, as always, for £4. If you haven't been before, come and find out what we're about!

The Hatters WI hosts a knitting, stitching and craft night at the Salisbury pub, from 7:30pm on the first Tuesday of each month. It's an enjoyable evening of conversation; and sometimes we even get some knitting done!
The first Tuesday of February 2016 is fast approaching, and we hope you will be able to join us. You don't have to be a member of the WI to come along, and you don't even have to knit: crafters of all disciplines - or none - are welcome. If you're a beginner, one of our more experienced crafters will usually be there to give you a hand.
Our next meeting will be on Tuesday 2nd February - find us from 7:30pm in the 3-light booth at the side of the pub.

This month's meeting will be on Wednesday 16th December, 7-9pm Jubilee Hall, Millennium Centre, West Green Rd, next to St John Vianney RC Church.
This month is our Christmas party. There'll be music and food and fizzy wine. It's a great opportunity to have a social evening together, and we hope you'll be able to come.
To that end, it would be really helpful if you could let us know if you're able to attend, so that we can be sure to cater adequately for everyone. Don't worry if you can't, but please reply if you are coming.
We'll also be doing our annual Bursary draw. All paid up members who are eligible and interested can put their names in the hat. We'll be drawing 2 bursaries, which winners can put towards courses, at the WI's Denman College or other accredited institution. We have some rules, and these will be available for reading before the draw. If you can't attend this month's meeting, but would like to be entered in the draw, please let us know ahead of time. We'll be drawing the bursary early in the evening, so please be sure to let us know if you think you will be late.

This month, we'll be making fresh pasta. I'll show you how to make the dough, then how to roll it, how to make pasta shapes and a variety of filled pasta shapes as well. Then, we'll eat our work! All fillings and sauces will be vegetarian, but we'll talk about meaty options too. There won't be enough to replace your supper, but we'll top you up for the evening.
Meetings are held at: Wednesday, 20th May 2015, 7-9pm, Jubilee Hall, Millennium Centre, West Green Rd, next to St John Vianney RC Church, London N15 3QH.
We'll also be reporting on our success at Riverfest and announcing our programme for the rest of the year - some exciting meetings ahead!
If you have them, please bring your receipts for Riverfest. We hope to have worked out a way of reimbursing whereby you won't need receipts for small amounts, but bring them if you have them...
As always, guests are welcome for just £4, and if you decide to join us, then the current subscription is just £27.
We'll also be collecting as usual for the food bank. Please provide items from the following list:
As always, there'll be cake and a raffle (donations welcome!). We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday.
